DDD & OADE Volunteers Make Blankets for Children

DDD and OADE are proud of our volunteers who came together this morning/afternoon to create some beautiful fleece tie blankets for , which serves central Ohio children in need. In all, 32 blankets were finished today. A sampling of the work can be seen in the showcase near the front entrance of the 400 Building.

There is donated fleece available if anyone would still like to make a blanket. Contact Beth Ruth, ext. 1761, if you are interested.

All blankets must be to Beth Ruth (in DDD Admin) by Friday (1/27) at noon. The blankets will be delivered to the charity that afternoon.

Thanks to all of the volunteer blanket makers, to OADE for help in coordinating the effort, to Admin and Area Managers for donating refreshments and a BIG THANKS to Area Manager Kim Price for providing instruction on fleece tie blanket making.

This Wednesday, January 12th, our Ohio Association of Disability Examiners is putting on a recruitment event in the Lima Room from 11 am to 1 pm. Come check us out and join in on the fun!

We are providing free chili for those interested.

Our mission is to BEAT Michigan!

Currently the Michigan chapter of Disability Examiners or MADE has 13 more members than our Ohio Chapter and WE MUST NOT LET THEM GET THE BETTER OF US!

It’s the dawning of a new year and the start of something really great!

Today your webmaster spent the better part of the day updating the site. I still have some bugs to work out – mostly dealing with pictures and the fact that SSA blocks social sites where we can download photos – but it’s getting better all the time.

OADE Award Dinner Coming Up

Our NADE state chapter is having an award dinner at Bravo’s Cucina Italian Restaurant on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

Cost for members is only $5.00 and for nonmembers it is $18.00.

Please RSVP by 8/20/2010 with cash or check made out to OADE to be accepted at that time.

Awards Dinner: We will be having an awards dinner on Tuesday, 8/31/10 at the Bravo restaurant, Crosswoods location. This will be an OADE business meeting which will hold elections, reports and our annual state awards. The chapter will pay for most of the cost, members will pay $5, non-members can attend but will pay $18 for the dinner. You must RSVP and turn in the money by Friday, 8/20/10 to me. Pasta and salad will be served and there will be a cash bar.

Elections: You can still nominate yourself or another for an officer position or executive board position. If you have been nominated, you can submit a short bio. to me to share with members. Please submit your bio. to me by 8/24, this will help others to make an informed decision.

Participation Criteria: It was discussed having an ad hoc committee to revisit our awards criteria. Please contact me if you are interested in being on this committee.

National Conference Committee Chair: With the 2012 national conference being hosted in Ohio a lot of planning work will need to begin soon. Please let me know if you are interested in this position.

Awards Nominations: There is still time to get in award nominations. They are due to Beth Baker by 8/19/10. I will also attach the criteria. This is an excellent way to recognize the work of others, so please consider nominating someone. Nominations can be for members or non-members for state awards.

Upcoming OADE Meeting 8/03/10

Our next OADE business meeting will be Tuesday, 8/3 in the Cleveland room and it will start at 12:00. Please note the time change from our typical meeting. An agenda will be coming out soon.

If you are seeking funding from the chapter for attending the national conference, please remember to fill out your conference participation form to show that you have met the requirements.

Since we are not having a state conference this year, we will have an event for elections and awards. Planning is being stated and more information will be available at the meeting. It is time to start nominating for elections and awards.

Elections: Please let myself or Jerry Prior know if you would like to run for president, vice president, treasurer, secretary or for the executive board. This year we have one position open on the executive board while Nate Picklesimer and Chante Tibby still have another year on their term.

Awards: Please consider writing a nomination for one of your coworkers for an award. Nominations are to be submitted to Beth Baker by close of business 8/12/10.
